Similarities and Differences in the Conservation of Historic Buildings in Chinese and French Ancient Capital Cities - Using Nanjing and Lyon as Examples

Abstract
Taking Nanjing and Lyon as examples, this paper discusses the similarities and differences between the ancient capital cities of China and France in the conservation of historic buildings, compares the similarities and differences between the two countries in the concept of historic building conservation, management mechanism, operation mode, public participation, etc., and extracts their respective characteristics and advantages. Finally, this paper puts forward the suggestions of improving laws and regulations, upgrading conservation techniques, encouraging public participation and exploring adaptive use, with a view to providing reference and inspiration for the conservation of historic buildings in the world.
