The Impact of City Network Status on Carbon Emission Efficiency-based on Data from Three Major Urban Agglomerations

Abstract
Based on the data from 2006 to 2020 of the three major urban agglomerations of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Pearl River Delta, this paper constructs a "structure-relationship-performance" framework to explore the impact of city network status on carbon emission efficiency. The study uses the gravity model, super-efficiency SBM model and Tobit model, combined with the instrumental variable method, to reveal the mechanism by which network status improves carbon emission efficiency through value chain reorganization, digital infrastructure, green finance and market development. The results show that point centrality, betweenness centrality and proximity centrality significantly positively affect carbon emission efficiency, the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta have significant effects, and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei inhibits the efficiency of marginal cities due to its core-edge structure. The study proposes a governance path of network optimization and cross-domain coordination, providing a policy basis for the coordination of "dual carbon" goals and urbanization.
