Terracotta Warriors and Horses: The Use of Terracotta Warriors in Figurative Sculpture

Abstract
The author selects the terracotta warriors and horses of the First Emperor of Qin as the research object, focusing on analyzing the terracotta warriors and soldiers in combination with figurative sculpture, and exploring the application of their image shaping in the creation of sculpture. First of all, the Qin terracotta warriors and horses for an overview, the introduction of the Qin terracotta warriors and horses on the inheritance and development of the previous dynasty, as well as the influence on the sculpture of the later generations, followed by the military terracotta warriors and ordinary soldiers terracotta warriors for the classification of comparison, the military terracotta warriors of the solemnity of the modeling, and soldiers terracotta warriors of the modeling of a more practical tendency of the diversity. Shaping the use of molded plastic through a combination of techniques to achieve realistic and standardized color, although more flaking occurs, the residual traces indicate that it has undergone color differentiation at the level of detail. Finally, after the analysis and generalization of the terracotta warriors from the shape, molding, and color, the characteristics of the terracotta warriors are applied to the figurative sculpture. This study aims to explore the artistic value of the terracotta warrior image shaping, apply it to figurative sculpture creation, draw on the terracotta warrior's modeling elements, shaping techniques and color concepts in the creation of the terracotta warrior, inheriting the excellent traditional Chinese culture, providing new ideas for the creation of modern sculpture, spreading the terracotta warrior culture in sculpture in practice, enhancing the sense of national cultural identity, passing on traditional Chinese culture, and promoting the development of sculpture art in inheritance and innovation. In practice, we spread the culture of Qin Terracotta Warriors in the form of sculpture, enhance the national cultural identity, inherit the traditional Chinese culture, and promote the development of sculpture art through inheritance and innovation.
